Asahi Super-Takumar 55mm f/1.8
This camera isn’t mine, but I’ve been carrying it around for a decade. A former bandmate left it with me when he went to South America after college, and in all that time this is the first roll I’ve put through it. My first film experiences were on a Pentax ME Super (I think), so this was in some ways familiar and in other ways wildly different. I couldn’t (and still can’t) quite wrap my head around the TTL metering on this camera and with this lens. Is it stop down or open aperture? Do I need to engage the “SW” switch on the lens mount? In the end, I think the light meter is just broken, so it doesn’t really matter. I got some really strange exposures on this one, some which were salvageable and some which were complete losses. All in all this was a fun camera to shoot though, it’s way more solid feeling than my Pentax MV, and it got me itching for an M42 Pentax of my own.
